Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you’re continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well!

This weeks pick for me is a book from Holly Black. I read her Modern Faerie Tale series and The Coldest Girl in Town and loved them, and my daughter and I read Doll Bones too. I know this is a long wait, but I am pretty excited to see what she brings us next.

The Cruel Prince

Expected Publication: January 2nd 2018
Published: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

I have to admit that I tried a few books by this author and they weren’t really for me but hey, life would be boring if we all had the same taste! I hope you both enjoy this one when you get it!

Haven’t been updated with what’s coming up this year as I am busy diminishing the size of my TBR hehe. But this one sounds really good, and the cover looks so good as well.

Holly Black has been on my TBR forever and I FINALLY just got to Tithe… only to have it be on a waiting list *facepalm*. I’m not sure about this one personally BUT I love the green beetle on the cover… just a splash of a different color. And now I’m curious why….

  4. Genni @ Ready, Set, Read!

I haven’t read anything by Holly Black, but I want to! She seems to love fairies (I know she did surgery to have pointed ears), so I’m sure that this world will be intricate and well done. πŸ™‚ I hope you love this!

OMG!! What an AWESOME pick, Jenea!! I’ve heard SO many great things about Holly Black, but have yet to read any of her books, because they do tend to be rather creepy. But this ones sure sounds exciting, so I’m adding it to my GR shelves! Thanks for featuring it! I think we’ll both enjoy it!

Thanks as well for commenting on my CWW post!! >3 πŸ™‚

I haven’t read Holly Black yet but I’ve been wanting to read her faerie stories, I’ve heard they’re pretty good and kinda dark. Will be adding this one for sure!

Curious — she wants to belong in a place so cruel to humans? I would like to see how the author handles that — great pick!

I’ve seen these around but haven’t read any of Holly’s books (maybe a novella). I do love a good fairytale, so taking a closer look at this one might be a requirement. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Jenea.

I hear so many good things about this author, whom I haven’t yet read. Thank you for reminding me about this series, Jeanea.
