Sunday Post #51

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. This is your news post, so personalize it! Include as much as you want or as little. Be creative, it can be a vlog or just a showcase of your goodies. Link up once a week or once a month, you decide. Book haul can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books..share them!

This was one of those weeks that I am glad it is over. So, I didn’t end up going to my interview with the police department, the recruiter called on Monday and wanted to make sure I was would bring some personal paperwork with me the following day and to go over the tattoo policy they have. I was disqualified for having a visible tattoo on my arm. Either I have them removed or are in the process of being removed! Who has a couple thousand dollars to remove tattoo like that? It’s bothered me all week. I worked in a large jail facility in Florida and went through 16 weeks of school for my job there while they go through 2-4 weeks where we live. So, I am more than qualified for the job but because of my “unprofessional appearance” I am no longer a candidate. Ok, so rant over…

There is a plus side to the week being over, Monday is my 19th Wedding Anniversary with my wonderful Husband!! WE’ll be celebrating at home that day. Maybe make a special dinner to celebrate. 🙂

The weather here has been pretty good, no burning hot temps. Little bit of rain which does cool things off. Yay! I got.some.pretty good reading done and no new arcs for my mountain of a tbr pile week. Just a couple of goodies from Debbie and my sister Sharon. ☺

That’s if for me, how was everyone’s week? Got any new goodies?

Wow, that’s really disappointing about the job interview! I hope something else great comes along soon!

  2. Sam@WLABB

Sorry to hear about your interview. Kind of surprising in 2018. I mean, I am assuming your tattoos are not offensive or gang related.

  3. Greg

Aw, sorry to hear about that! I’m surprised frankly they have a policy like that??? Weird. Anyway glad your weather cooled a bit- it’s been hot here but not as bad as I know some people are getting. I’m ready for fall.

Congrats on winning the Lost for Words Bookshop!

  4. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

They didn’t give you an option to wear a shirt that would cover the tattoo? I do remember a UPS man that delivered to a building I worked in would wear long sleeves year round to cover his tattoos. That sucks, Jenea. Congrats on your book wins!

Yea for the good weather and some time at home with maybe a good meal! I hope you’re getting to relax and read also. Anne – Books of My Heart

Sorry about the job. My mom worked at a school that had the same policy. The teachers wore uniforms, and the teachers with visible tattoos had to get them removed or cover them with makeup. I hope you have a good anniversary!

Oh I’m so angry for you about the job! It’s outrageous and surely discriminatory? 😤
Tattoos are so common place now that surely policies like that will start dying off… Ridiculous.

Fingers crossed for something better to come along!

I’m so sorry to hear about the job interview. That’s so disappointing. We have a similar policy at my job and I’m sure it eliminates a lot of qualified applicants.

Happy anniversary though! 19 years is wonderful 🙂

I just think that it is crazy that a tattoo disqualified you. 10 years ago sure, but now days everyone has tattoos. I have more than one. Sorry to hear about that.

congratulations on 19 years and happy anniversary!
