Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind?

If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . .

1. Pre-nups are your friend.
2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing.
3. And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?

But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.

The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

This is a story of opposites attract and maybe even frenemies to lovers. The story will have you turning the pages just to see the banter between them, it was such a great story.

Max Henderson and Charlie Love couldn’t be more different in their beliefs about love. He is a highly sought after divorce attorney, she brings people love and joy while being a wedding planner. They have a chance meeting while Charlie is setting up everything for Max’s brother James’ wedding. And do the banter begins… It could be so funny at times, and a little steamy at others. Of course in stories like this we know at some point they end up “together”, but do they stay that way or go their separate ways after the James’ big day?

Max has one big ego, but it does get in the way of his love life so to speak. He sees the dirty, the underbelly of divorce each and every day being a divorce attorney. There were quite a few times that even I wanted to smack some sense into him. He has this gorgeous woman right in front of him. I just adored Charlie, she was so charismatic when it came to love. She believed in it with her whole heart, which is makes her a wonderful wedding planner. Not these two do have some steamy banter between them and I enjoyed it all so much. They were not without some issues though but they had plenty of chemistry between them and some pretty steamy chemistry at that.

There a quite a few side characters, like the parents of Max and James (which were just the sweetest) to Charlie’s best friends. The didn’t feel like side characters to me, they had an interest in making Max and Charlie see what was right in front of them and played their parts well. Oh and Max had a couple of his colleagues/friends that played a part in just about everything Max and they were just as cynical as he was at the beginning. Illegally Yours, is the next installment, so I am curious as to whose story it will be, maybe one of their. That would be amazing.

When I reached the end, I was pleased that everything worked out the way it did. What would a romance be without a little bit of steaminess and a little bit of angst and I thoroughly enjoyed these from start to finish. It turned out to be a great romance and one of change and love, I couldn’t have asked for more.

I feel like I see Meader’s name – and her books – everywhere but I’ve yet to read anything by her. I’m a sucker for great banter, though. And I already like the sound of both Max and Charlie. Great review, Jenea!

Ahh… This sounds like it hit all the right notes. I love a good frenemies romance and glad that it wasn’t full of drama. WIll have to try and check it out.

This is new to me and it sounds quite entertaining. A divorce lawyer and a wedding planner? Would love to experience their interactions from start to when they develop feelings. Nice review, Jenea. Glad you liked the story

I was worried when I saw some reviews for this one, but I really enjoyed it. It had that old rom-com feel – think That Touch of Mink and its namesake. I enjoyed the banter so much, and am looking forward to the other partner’s stories. At first look, Max comes off as a cad, but when I heard more about his client’s and his romantic past, I started seeing him in a little different light.

This made me smile — the thought of a wedding planner and divorce lawyer finding love is just so perfect and yeah TOTALLY opposites attracting
